Brass Band Season 2018
Aldbourne Band was established in 1860 and is based in the picturesque village of Aldbourne near Marlborough, Wiltshire.
The Band has a busy concert schedule with long established annual events which include their summer season of open air concerts by the pond in Aldbourne. The “Pond Concerts” take place on the first Sunday of June, July, August and September in the evening apart from August, where since 2005 a Proms concert has entertained approximately 1000 people on the village green. During their busy Christmas period the band led the BBC Wiltshire Carol service at Salisbury Cathedral and closed the year of with their traditional Christmas day caroling around the village which starts at 4am!
The Band’s competing history goes back before the first World War and during the 1920’s and 30’s achieved great acclaim performing at the Crystal Palace in London. In 1981 the Band won the West of England Championships and competed at the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall as well as representing the area on BBC 2’s “Best of Brass”. The band once again qualified for the National Finals in 2016 and gained a credible top 10 finish playing the challenging Journey of the Lone Wolf.
The band is delighted to again be able to perform on the stage at the Subscription Rooms.
