BBCTV STAR HEADLINES STROUD DEBUT PANTO!
Listen carefully – we will say this only once! BBCTV legend Sue Hodge will be starring in Stroud pantomime!
Sue Hodge is best known as the hilarious pint-sized pocket firework, waitress Mimi Le Bonq in the BBC classic TV series `Allo `Allo, now being reshown on BBC2. `Allo `Allo remains a worldwide smash hit with previous viewing figures topping 24 million each week in the UK alone and the stage show sold out in its international tours and at its long run at the London Palladium, and Sue is delighted to have been part of it all. “The fact that the BBC have aired `Allo `Allo again means that even more people can enjoy the antics of what was a brilliant comedy series, and one which I am proud to have been involved in,” said Sue. “In fact a lot of the stunts, one-liners and general silliness was very panto-based. It’s probably why I love doing panto each year!”
Sue has starred in more than 30 pantomimes over her career, but only been asked to play the role of Nurse recently. “When it was suggested, I jumped at the chance, as it has been a new challenge and great fun. Robin Hood is a wonderfully traditional pantomime with a fabulous story line. I`m told the original story is nearly 500 years old, so a bit like my jokes! Mimi will have a wonderful time flirting with both Robin Hood and The Sheriff of Nottingham. I wonder which one she will end up with!?”
Sue says she is proud to be starring in the first professional pantomime at the Subscription Rooms, “Panto is such a part of Christmas and it’s a time for the whole family to get together and enjoy a good laugh,” she says. Sue will be joined by a cast from TV, and London`s West-End, soon to be announced. Robin Hood promises to be a thrilling Pantomime adventure for all the family, and the venue is advising people to book early.
Robin Hood – A Thrilling Family Adventure is presented at Stroud Subscription Rooms daily from December 22-24. Book online at www.subscriptionrooms.org.uk OR 01453 760900
